Brussels becomes the HQ of the European Esports Federation

Article Summary

The European Esports Federation has chosen to establish its head office in Brussels.

Following a call for applications in September, the internal committee of Esports Europe chose the Belgian capital as its base, citing the international nature of the city as a deciding factor. It will join the 2250 other organisations already present in Brussels, confirming the city’s status as the world capital of international associations.

Esports have risen in popularity in the past years, with players taking part in sports competitions through online video games.

According to Minister Pascal Smet, Secretary of State of the Brussels-Capital Region, Brussels is positioning itself more and more as a technological capital in Europe and in the world. “We will continue to innovate, create and attract projects in the years to come,” he said.
