Electra, an operator specializing in fast charging stations, has opened an office in Brussels. Established in the capital in early July, it is headed by Augustin Derville, one of the company’s co-founders. Two Flemish-speaking employees will be hired as support. With a new base in Brussels, the green-energy supplier is set on growth in Europe.
Created at the beginning of 2021 by Aurélien de Meaux, Julien Belliato and Augustin Derville, Electra’s charging stations are compatible with all electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The Parisian start-up succeeded in raising €160 million in late June, with a goal of deploying its charging stations throughout France and a view to expanding throughout Europe.
Electra has 50 charging points open and aims to have 300 by the end of the year. The company has set itself an ambitious goal for 2030: to have 1,500 stations with 8,000 charging points open in Europe.
Electra focuses on establishing itself inside cities, rather than at major intersections and motorways. The company has signed partnerships with hotels such as AccorINvest and Weboost, the startup of Louvre Hotels Group, and French carpark company Indigo. These partnerships “will make it easier for thousands of electromobilists to find a charging point that is reliable and fast”, says Aurélien de Meaux, CEO of Electra.
