Brussels in top ten best European cities for foodies!

Brussels has been listed among the ten best European cities for gastronomers.   The critieria for selection was based on the number of standard and Michelin Guide restaurants per square mile, variety of cuisines, affordability and the percentage of vegan options.

Finnish comparison specialist Bonusetu carried out the survey. It collected data for 44 European cities to calculate their ‘Foodie Index Score’. The Maltese capital Valetta came out on top, , with a score of 78.36 out of 100.

Brussels ranks fourth

The tiny Maltese capital contains 10 Michelin Guide-featured restaurants. Meals there are relatively affordable and two people dining out for three courses can expect to pay an  average  of €75.

Paris came in second place (with a score of 71.65 out of 100). It provides more culinary variety than Valletta with 198 different cuisines on offer in the city, but fared less well with . vegan options.

Brussels (61.21) came in fourth place, offering 155 different cuisines in the city’s 3,458 restaurants. A three-course meal for two will set customers back approximately €70. Vegan options can be found in around one in ten (9.89%) restaurants and the city boasts 2.97 Michelin Guide restaurants per square mile.
