Not one but four Belgian cities now rank among the top 100 cities in Europe for quality of life, work and investment.
The study, carried out by branding advisor Resonance Consulting, classifies European cities with populations of 500,000 or more.
Ranking first in the list came London, with Paris and Amsterdam next in the top 3.
Brussels came in just outside the top ten in 12th place. It was hailed for its architecture and its investment in public spaces, and as the home of the EU. The city also ranked 6th in the study’s “People” category, and boasts the second-most-educated residents in Europe.
Ghent ranked at number 47, praised for its proud history as a medieval trading city and UNESCO sites, and its commitment to sustainability.
In 50th place came Antwerp, lauded for its cultural wealth, shopping, and quaint cobblestone streets. Liege also made the cut at 88th place, and was commended as a draw for international firms due to its reputation as a transport and logistics hub, and for its folk festivals.
