Brussels Airport welcomed 26.4 million passengers in 2019, an increase of 2.7% more from the previous year.
This growth is made up of both local passengers and also transfer passengers who constituted an increase of 2.6% and 2.5% respectively. This rise in passengers is viewed as a result of the strengthening of Brussels Airport as a hub of the Star Alliance network.
“Brussels Airport reached a new passenger record in 2019 with 26.4 million passengers welcomed. In ten years, the number of passengers has increased from 17 million in 2009 to 26.4 million in 2019, but the number of flights has remained constant during this period. This shows that growth can be achieved without raising the environmental impact, thanks to the use of planes that are not only bigger and fuller, but also considerably more ecological,” said Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport Company.
